There are various types and subtypes of lymphoma, but can generally be divided into two broad categories, namely Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Hodgkins lymphoma is much more easily treated and the prognosis is very good than non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Stage 1, Lymphomas are in one group of lymph nodes
Stage 2, lymphoma are at two or more groups of lymph nodes and is located on one side of the diaphragm (the partition between the abdominal cavity and chest cavity).
Stage 3, There are more than two groups of lymph nodes on the two sides of the diaphragm.
Stage 4 lymphoma has occurred in other organs such as the lungs, abdomen or in the bone marrow.

When the stage the cancer is at stage 3 and 4, then the healing process can be done with chemotherapy.

After a biopsy and diagnosed that the tumor is cancerous, then a CT scan will be performed to stage the cancer. In lymphoma, bone marrow will be examined whether bone marrow cancer carries well. CT scans can be performed regularly during chemotherapy to determine the reaction of such treatment.

At the end of treatment, CT scans and PET scans performed end to confirm the presence of cancer cells. Chemotherapy treatment can last between six to eight months and one month to recover from the effects of chemotherapy. See also Cause, Symptoms, and Treatment of lump in armpit.
