Lymphadenitis: a Lump in Armpit

Lymph nodes are scattered in almost all parts of our body. We also have underarm lymph nodes. However, when these glands when disturbed will usually result lump in the armpit. Lump in armpit will usually cause pain when pressed.

What is Lymphadenitis?


 When we feel pain lump in armpit when pressed, this could be a sign that we're exposed to lymphadenitis. Lymphadenitis is an inflammation of one or more lymph nodes, which usually become swollen and tender. So when the lymph nodes around the neck, armpit, and groin swollen and sore when pressed, it is a sign of lymphadenitis.

However, not all nodes can be identified directly if the swell. In contrast to the lymph nodes in the armpit that forms lump in armpit, the lymph nodes in the abdominal cavity can not be felt when experiencing swelling.

 
There are also lymph nodes contained in the body which can not be felt in the abdominal cavity. The causes of enlarged lymph nodes are non-specific infection, specific infections (tuberculosis), malignancy (lymphoma).
